England can improve in ODI by preparing flatter wickets at home reckons http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Michael-Paul-Vaughan-c76145 - Cricket News Update
Michael Vaughan, former Test cricketer, has come up with a suggestion to improve England’s One-Day International track record when playing abroad.
Vaughan, who has represented the Poms in 86 ODI matches, reckons that England should prepare flatter wickets at home, so that when they embark on foreign tours their players would not find it difficult settling in.
The former cricketer referring to England’s defeats in the 2011 World Cup at the hands of Ire Land and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 said that their one-day record away from home is not great and needs immediate attention.
The English team at home is accustomed to playing on seaming pitches, which provide extra pace and bounce; however, they seems to lose their sting when they are put on surfaces where the ball spins and keeps relatively low.
In an exclusive interview to sportinglife.com, the former captain of England said, “In one-day cricket, they've got a lot still to learn. I think they've got the right ingredients; they've just got to find a system that works away
from home on the flatter wickets. They prepare green wickets in England; they get the ball swinging around, bouncing around and you just don't get that away from home.”
Vaughan continued, “It's a concern that they prepare to play on wickets in England that you're not going to get abroad. So you can always win in England but when you're travelling it's going to be a problem. I think England have
got to prepare flatter wickets on their home shores because that's what you're going to get away from home.”
England is currently on tour of India, where they are trailing by two games to nil in a five match ODI series. Indians are dominating the tourists as they won the first match by a margin of 126 runs and the second by eight wickets.
Last time England toured http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, they endured a humiliating 5-0 defeat in ODI’s and this time they have to play out of their skins if they want to avoid experiencing the same fate. The English team has to win all remaining games,
if they want to name the series as their own.
The third match between India and England will be played at http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Punjab-c833 Cricket Association Stadium, Mohali, Chandigarh on Thursday, October 20, 2011.
