England cashes on World No.1 Test spot – Cricket News Update
Following the much hyped and talked about ongoing Test series against the Indian hosts, more news comes from the region after it was learnt that the country’s cricketing governing body, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), is set to sign up with Investec,
for a four year contract worth 20 million pounds, as the official sponsor for the country’s Test cricket.
According to media reports, Investec, an asset management banking company, will be replacing the team’s current sponsor, npower, and that any official announcements regarding the new venture will be made after the eventual wrap up to the proceeding fourth

Previously, Investec developed a minute association with the ECB after the financial corporation was designated as the sponsor for the media centre at Lord’s. The three years deal was set to span between 2007 until till the Ashes series in England in 2009
and included an assortment of right for the cricketing board including ‘the naming of the media centre, corporate entertainment facilities and widespread branding’ until the end of the 2009 Ashes Series in England.
However, the current four-year contract with Investec is designed to cover the scheduled series against the Indians and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757, followed by two Ashes seasons in 2013 and 2015.
Npower, the leading energy supplying company in England will be bringing an end to its 10-year association with ECB. However, according to reports the board’s new sponsorship with Investec comes with great importance and may add value to its ‘broadcast contract
with Sky’.
Since its initial contract in 2001, in August 2009, Npower announced a two year extension to its sponsorship of Test cricket in England that was set to last till the ongoing Test series against India.
However, 2009’s agreement with the ECB marked npower as one of the ‘largest corporate sponsors of cricket in the UK’.
Apart from cricket, npower has also moved to other sports including its recent agreement with a football league.
