England coach, Andy Flower, backed wicketkeeper Steven Davies, when the latter revealed he was g*y.
Talking to a british newspaper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c749 coach Andy Flower admitted that he had known this for some time before adding, “Steve’s private life is his own, it has absolutely no bearing on his ability to excel at the very highest level in International sport,”
Davies admitted that he decided to confide in the team’s strong-willed coach and he has been the first one to support him. He told the coach after being called up for the 2010-11 Ashes tour to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746. The coach, along with skipper Andrew Strauss then
told the rest of the squad.
“Steve has had and will continue to have the full respect and support of the entire squad and everyone involved in England cricket,” Flower was quoted on the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) official website.
The 24-year-old young wicketkeeper becomes the first “active” International cricketer to have come out with such a revelation regarding his sexuality. In a frank interview with the tabloid, he stated that he had decided to announce this as he battled with
a “personal conflict.”

Team-mate Ian Bell stated that he is a very popular guy and everyone should see how “fantastic” he is as a cricketer.
The chairman of Professional Cricketer’s Association, Vikram Solanki, also backed him saying that he has the full support of his “colleagues in cricket.”
