England coach Andy Flower not happy with tour timings
England’s coach Andy Flower has shown his displeasure over the bad timings of the Australian tour. He said that the coaching staff should be consulted before deciding the timings of tours.
The Poms have struggled with injuries throughout the Australian tour and many of their key players have been sent back home following fitness issues. The latest player to be left out of the squad was Paul Collingwood.
Other than Collingwood; Chris Tremlett, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ajmal-Shahzad-c42489, Graeme Swann and Tim Bresnan have already returned to England.
Flower said, “We've been here over three months now and with the intensity at which the guys play their cricket, and with the intensity that we demand in training it is no surprise that people will pick up injuries and break down at the end of a long, hard
tour.”
He further added, “It would be quite sensible to look at how these tours are set up, especially this close to a World Cup, however, these are the schedules that we are given and we will deal with them as well as we can.”
England started their tour on a positive note and won the Ashes series by 3-1. This was their first Ashes victory for the English team in Australia in 24 years. However, things started to get troublesome for the team as they kept on losing key players during
the One Day Internationals (ODIs).
This saw England lose the ODI series in a humiliating way and with just one match to go in the seven-match series; the Poms are trailing by 5-1.
Although the team has not been able to win many matches in the limited-over cricket, Flower said nothing had gone wrong and England would be a force to reckon with in the World Cup.
He further stated that the performances had not been bad and the players had given a good fight to the hosts. However, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 had edged with more victories and the overall results showed that the series was a one-sided affair.
On the other hand, the Kangaroos have also had injury problems with their players. There have been many key players in the team who sustained injuries during the ongoing tour against England.
Teams must plan their tours according to their future programs otherwise they will be short of players just like England and Australia. The injury list of both the teams does cast a shadow of doubt over the players' availability for the upcoming World Cup,
something both the camps would be really concerned about.
