England coach Steve McNamara happy with his side's performance - Rugby League
While addressing a press conference after the end of the Gillette Four Nations’ October 29th showdown, English coach, Steve McNamara, expressed his joy over his side’s thumping 42-4 win over Wales, at Leigh Village Sports.
England had taken the lead in the very first minute of the clash by opening the scoring. The first score eventually extended into a never ending string of tries. The Welsh side failed to put up a strong defence, which was apparent from the fact that the
English side had a total of eight tries scored during the match.
The lead stretched completely unanswered until the end of the first-half of the game, with the score breakup of 14-0.
Wales finally rebutted in the second half of the game but unfortunately it was not enough to close in the gap which was already big after the end of first half. However, the gap widened further until the English side had a total of eight tries. The results
for Wales were nonetheless very embarrassing but it is believed that if the side continues playing against the formidable forces such as Kangaroos and Kiwis there side will improve a great deal.
It has been acknowledged by Elliott Kear of Wales that if his side learns the positives from their recent appalling performance and incorporates those leasson in the weaker areas they should get better results in their future games. This will greatly improve
their existing level of game, which needs to get more competitive in order to win matches.
Also, it has been felt by the player that in order to build on his side’s development, there is a need to keep possession of the ball. If these minor areas are worked upon, there is still hope for the Welsh side.
While talking about his happiness over his side’s potential, McNamara said, "I'm really pleased, it was a potentially really tough game for us. We were playing Wales at probably the healthiest they will be and this was their big shot as us so, to come out
with a scoreline like that and the way we played in the second half, I'm really pleased."
