England coach Steve McNamara says that his focus for now is entirely on Four Nations Series
While talking to reporters on Tuesday, October 11, the head coach of England, Steve McNamara, stated that he is sidelining his focus from Rugby World Cup 2013, so that he can concentrate on the Four Nations Series, which is about to kick off later this month.
While speaking about this decision, the coach added, "There's always one eye on that, on long-term planning, but right now the important thing is to get a competition won. We want to attack this competition with venom, throw everything into trying to win
it, then we'll look towards 2013 after that."
From his statement it seems apparent that England is willing to put everything on stake to win the Four Nations which will stretch for six weeks, starting off from the end of October.
McNamara acknowledged that the Four Nations has provided his squad with a fitting opportunity on home soil. He said, "We feel we have a really exciting opportunity, on home soil this time around. Obviously we have got some boys who are unavailable due to
injury and other reasons it's but same as any other squad. I'm absolutely delighted by the make-up, balance and excitement of this squad and I feel we have a great chance."
This year is the last Four Nations, as Australia will be missing out on the next year’s Campaign, so that it could prepare well for World Cup lined up in 2013. England is especially focused on Four Nations because they have already won the runners up spot
twice, until now.
The English coach has given his best shot in lining up the best of best in his team, who will contest against the other three Nations on the Gillette Four Nations Series.
Rangi Chase made it into the squad successfully through residency grounds. Brisbane Broncos’ Jack Reed, Wests Tigers forward Chris Heighington and Gareth Ellis will also be seen in English squad.
Reed along with Gareth Widdop, the Melbourne stand-off will reach England on Tuesday. After the entire squad has convened on Tuesday, the English squad will doing practice sessions in Loughborough University on Wednesday.
