England fast bowler Steven Finn ready to wait for his opportunity – Cricket news
England fast bowler Steven Finn has said that he understands he might have to wait long before he gets another opportunity to play for his country.
The lanky fast bowler was a permanent member of the England Test team before he proved too expensive in the 2010-11 Ashes series down under.
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 at home made sure that Finn is the first choice option for the third
fast bowling slot to support James Anderson and Stuart Broad in Test cricket.
22-year-old Finn took 14 wickets in the 2010-11 Ashes series in just three Test matches which included his career best of 6 for 125 at Brisbane. However, he gave away too many scoring opportunities to the Australian batsmen and his economy rate for the series
was 4.30 runs per over, which is not acceptable in the five-day format of the game.
The biggest positive for Finn is the fact that he is still young and has a long career ahead of him. He knows that being dropped and then making a comeback is part and parcel of any cricketer at the international level.
He has given positive vibes to his fans all around the world that he will make a comeback even if it takes him a long time to wait in the wings but he promised that he will be a better bowler whenever he is given another opportunity to prove his mettle at
the highest stage of the sport.
Finn said, “I don't think anyone has ever gone through international cricket without being dropped or left out of a team so hopefully it's something that will benefit me in the long run. If it takes me a year or two to get back into the international team
then so be it, but I'd back myself to be a better bowler when I get into the team.”
He has so far played 11 Test matches for England and has taken 46 wickets at an impressive average of 26.23 runs per wicket. Finn has also grabbed three five-wicket hauls which is a clear indication that he has a lot of talent and some more first-class experience
will make him a better bowler for sure.
The lanky fast bowler said that he was excited to take wickets in the important Ashes series but also understands that he leaked a lot of runs against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 and understands that he needs to improve in order to make a comeback in the national team.
“To take 14 Ashes wickets in three Tests was a great feeling but I'm well aware that I went for too many runs and it's the reason I got left out of the team. It's important that I learn from what I did wrong in the Ashes series and make myself a better player,”
the fast bowler added.
England’s domestic season has just commenced and it provides an ideal opportunity for Finn to display some extraordinary performances and catch the eyes of the selectors once again.
