"It's a great way to start the warm-up to this tournament, and we also had that good win against South Africa too in Birmingham last week," said Hales during a post-match media encounter in Colombo today.
"We're feeling pretty confident heading into this tournament. It adds to the confidence in the changing room, which is already pretty good,” he added further.
Hales played a scintillating half-century knock – 52 runs off 38 balls – to help his side a competitive 172 for six in their stipulated 20 overs. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Eoin-Joseph-Gerard-Morgan-c56032 also contributed with valuable thirties.
The right-hander was happy to get some runs under his belt in the build up to the marquee tournament, where England will be defending the title, they had clinched in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 in 2010.
"It's nice to get some runs under your belt in the first warm-up game. It was a good team performance, and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013, and averages almost 40 with the bat.
“I think the deck was a lot better than everyone expected. It came on to the bat nicely,” he added further.
The defending champions have been placed in Group A, along with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 on Wednesday before taking on Afghans in the tournament opener.
