England in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746: James Anderson targets rest of ODI series
James Anderson, the England fast bowler, is hopeful that his team will fight back in the rest of the One Day International series against Australia and his inclusion in the team will be able to revive their lost spirits.
The England’s premier bowler has said that he will prove his fitness ahead of the next game in Adelaide, and will lead the English bowling attack which is missing their key bowlers due to injuries.
Anderson, who missed the two Twenty20 internationals and the first three games of the ongoing ODI series, arrived back in Australia recently. The right-arm bowler was given a post-Ashes break following England’s 3-1 victory over the Kangaroos.
James bowled brilliantly in the Ashes series against the ‘old enemy’, picking up 24 wickets at an impressive average of 26. He was unplayable and the Aussie batsmen found it difficult to counter his late swing.
He said, “To be honest we'll just see how the next couple of days go. I'll practice tomorrow [Tuesday] and if I come through practice I'll certainly be putting my name forward for selection.”
The English seamer added, “I'd like to think I bring some energy with both my bowling and fielding. I don't think we are that far away having seen the first three games. We aren't far away from a win and turning the momentum around.”
England are missing their key bowlers. Stuart Broad has not recovered to full fitness, while Graeme Swann has not participated in the last two ODIs due to a knee injury. Tim Bresnan is the latest addition to the injury list with a torn calf.
The bowlers have done a reasonable job for the visiting team, but there have been some batting collapses in Sydney and Hobart due to which they are way behind in the series.
James mentioned, “I know we are 3-0 down but the dressing room seems just as positive as when I left. They are still in good spirits. We know we are just one game away from turning the momentum around. We are looking to Wednesday to be a good all-round performance
with both bat and ball.”
The visitors are trailing the seven-match ODI series by 3-0 with four matches to go. A defeat in the next game at the Adelaide Oval will mean a series loss for England, and some consolation for the hosts. Let’s see how much of an impact will James Anderson
have on the game.
