England in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746: Tim Paine looking forward to lead PM’s XI
Wicketkeeper batsman Tim Paine is all set to lead the Prime Minister’s XI against the Ashes 2010 victorious England side.
This will be a big test for the Australian player as notions to keep him as a potential candidate for captaincy of the national team are picking up. The Australian player also knows about the fact that the selectors will be closely watching the next game,
due at Canberra on Monday.
Paine believes that if he performs well for the side, starting with impressive tactics in Monday’s encounter, then his chances to lead the national team will be high.
Tim Paine has accepted the importance of the next game against the English, rendering it as a test for his qualification. “I think it probably is a bit of an audition, but as I have said in the past couple of days that’s probably a long way away from me
at the moment,” explained Paine in front of the media personnel, regarding the future of his captaincy.
He is aware of the fact that this will not be easy pickings for him, following the dismal leadership of Ponting and because of out-of-form http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120.
For the moment, Michael Clarke will be the likely candidate to inherit the captaincy once Ricky Ponting departs. But the nomination of Tim Paine as the leader of the side has also come up, and as a strong one, after witnessing his performance at the Test
and the One Day level.
This means that the competition is tough, and that Clarke has to regain his form so that he can stay to do the job. He did not look comfortable leading the side in the fifth Ashes Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground which raised many eyebrows towards the capability
of Clarke to lead the team.
