ongoing http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 World Twenty20 2012, despite their utter failure to tackle spin bowlers in the previous match.
“We don't have to do anything different than we've done,” Finn said. “We've had one bad game - we know that - but we move on from it.
“We brush it under the carpet; we learn from our mistakes, and we get better from it.”
Prior to the commencement of the ICC World T20 2012, England had a reasonably good year in the T20 format of the game, having won 4 of the 7 matches they had played. Victors from the World T20 title in the 2009-10 edition of the tournament, they went into
the 2012 competition as defending champions.
Despite several squad members being relatively young in terms of experience, and the notable absence of star batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KP-Pietersen-c1806 whose prolonged spat with the England and Wales Cricket Board rendered him ineligible for selection, England got their World
T20 campaign started off on a positive note.
The Poms won both of their warm-up matches played prior to the mega event – a 9-run victory over http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755.
The team then proceeded to get the tournament started off on the right foot, hammering http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 a spot in the Super Eights stage of the competition. However, what followed was an utter debacle as the
Poms crashed to a 90-run defeat at the hands of India – their worst T20I defeat in terms of run margin.
Playing on a track which was expected to offer a fair amount of turn, the English batsmen put into effect their strategies for tackling spin. However, the surface did not turn as much as was expected, and the duo of off-spinner http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Harbhajan-Singh-c61453 (4/12) and
leg-spinner http://www.senore.com/Cricket/C-Kieswetter-c1206 top-scoring for the team with a paltry 35, England were reduced, all out, to 80 – the lowest total they have registered in the format as yet.
Despite the defeat, however, England’s spot in the Super Eights is still secure, and the team has expressed the intent to move on post-defeat as they go in to the next stage of the tournament.
