England manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 Capello leaves out Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermain Defoe considers Chelsea’s Daniel Sturridge
Tottenham Hotspur striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Montenegro-c2959 this Friday and the 28-year-old will not be
accompanying his side in their last qualifier match.
Defoe has improved drastically this season, having scored four goals in eight games for the Spurs so far in all competitions. It is for this reason Defoe expected to receive a call-up, but Capello chose http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Zamora-c40983 instead.
Defoe said in an interview:
“I am obviously very disappointed.
I feel I have not let Mr. Capello down when I have played, but I will work hard to get my place back.”
While Defoe seems to have lost his place in the England squad, Chelsea striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 manager Andre Villas-Boas said he felt it was only a matter of time the former England
under-21 international would be noticed by the England manager.
Villas-Boas revealed:
“If he decides that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-c9879 can add to his squad, I'm sure he won't hesitate.”
However, the Portuguese manager revealed he was not too concerned with the player’s international career. He admitted that while Sturridge was currently only focused on club football, his inclusion in the national team would mean the Blues would no longer
have his undivided attention.
He continued:
“I think his motivation is to win titles for the club.
When he goes to the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 environment - which for Daniel has been the under-21s and the youth levels - he will turn his focus of course on England's objectives.”
Sturridge has proved to be exceptional for Chelsea this season, returning to Stamford Bridge after spending half a season on loan with Bolton Wanderers. While with the Trotters, Sturridge scored eight goals in 12 Premier League appearances and has already
scored three goals in five appearances for the Blues so far. The English striker scored twice for Chelsea in their clash against Bolton Wanderers on Sunday in his side’s 5-1 win.
