A commanding 173-run stand between Alastair Cook and Jonathan Trott steered England to a comfortable position by tea on the second day of the 2nd
Ashes Test at the Adelaide Oval. As a result, the visitors moved to a decent position as the score board read 198 runs for the loss of two wickets.
The post-lunch session belonged to the visiting team as they piled up 108 runs for the loss of only one wicket. On a beautiful batting wicket, the Englishmen ensured that they do not replicate Australia’s abysmal batting performance.
Cook and Trott dominated Australia in Brisbane and they did so in the second Test match as well. In the process, the pair recorded brilliant half-centuries to coast England to a commanding position.
Jonathan Trott, who was fresh from a ton at the Gabba, looked in great form as he continued to muster runs in a strident manner. In the process, the talented right hand batsman scored 78 runs, and specifically, was strong on the
leg-side of the wicket. The shot that brought his downfall was an on-side flick off the hip.
Alastair Cook was a colossal in form as he continued to impress everyone with his run scoring bat. The left-hander played shots all-around the park as he gathered his 90 runs confidently. Cook hardly played a false stroke in his
beautiful innings. The England opener is all set to score his second successive century of the series.
The Australian bowlers had to work hard in the heat of Adelaide. On the back of a modest batting performance, the Australian bowlers had a little to hide as they only managed the lone wicket of Trott. Apart from the poor batting
display, bowlers were let down in the field as well, as the Kangaroos dropped three catches.
Ryan Harris has been the pick of the bowlers for the home team as bowled with great pace and control. Resultantly, the right-arm bowler grabbed a wicket in the second session. His persistent bowling earned him the wicket of the
resilient Trott.
Moreover, Harris broke the second wicket partnership as he brought about the demise of Trott. The ball, which earned Harris the wicket of Trott, was a straight delivery as it pitched on the middle stump, Trott moved across his
stumps to play the ball on the leg-side, but only managed to scoop it in the air towards mid-wicket, where http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120 took a diving catch.
Previously, Australia scored a modest first innings total of 245 runs, despite playing on a beautiful batting pitch. Hussey’s resilient 93-run innings led the revival of the Australian innings, after they lost 3 wickets for 2 runs
in 3 overs.
The start for Australia was perfect as Doug Bollinger clean bowled Andrew Strauss in the first over of the day with a brilliant delivery. Afterwards, Trott and Cook led England’s revival as they put the visitors in a dominant position.

Cook (90) and Kevin Pieterson (14) will resume England’s innings. Pieterson has looked confident in his short display so far. Cook is all set to repeat his performance at the Gabba. On the other hand, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 is missing the x-factor,
but they will be looking for an inspiring bowling performance from one of their top bowlers.
