England pacer Ajmal Shahzad ruled out of ICC World Cup 2011 due to injury
England cricket team suffered another blow on Thursday when another fast bowler of their squad, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ajmal-Shahzad-c42489 was ruled out of the remainder of the ICC World Cup 2011 due to a recurring hamstring injury.
In February 2011, Shahzad also missed the last two games of the seven-match One Day International series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 owing to his hamstring injury.
On Wednesday, the pacer underwent scans on his left leg which revealed that he will not be able to play in the remaining matches of the tournament. The pacer also did not participate in Wednesday’s training session.
Recently, Ajmal was included in the playing eleven as a replacement for the fast bowler Stuart Broad, who was ruled out of the squad due to a side strain he picked during the group match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757. In that match, Broad gave a marvellous performance
and claimed 4 wickets for 15 runs assisting his side to a four-run win.
Broad’s replacement, Shahzad also gave a significant bowling performance in England’s defeat to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 and claimed 3 wickets for 43 runs.
In addition, one of the most remarkable batsmen of the England side, Kevin Pietersen was also recently ruled out from the tournament due to a Hernia concern. Due to this, Eoin Morgan was called up as his replacement.
England’s problems did not finish here. Their skipper Andrew Strauss and spinner Graeme Smith also missed the training on Tuesday owing to their stomach problems. However, they recovered soon and are scheduled to play against West Indies on Thursday.
England have included James Tredwell and Chris Tremlett in order to replace Shahzad and James Anderson. Moreover, Luke Wright is playing in place of Paul Collingwood.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said that the replacement for Ajmal will only be made if England manage to win Thursday’s game against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 at Chennai since it will lead them to the quarterfinals of the quadrennial event.
