England posts a challenging total of 273 against Pakistan in the warm up Fixture
England has posted a challenging score of 273 runs on the board against Pakistan in the last warm up match of the ICC World Cup 2011. Misbah ul Haq is leading Pakistan in this match as the green shirts rested their main in form players including skipper
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482 and all-rounder Abdul Razzaq to give a proper chance to the youngsters before the World Cup kicks-off officially. This is the first encounter between both the sides following Pakistan’s controversial tour of England.
At the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium, Fatullah, Misbah ul Haq won the toss for Pakistan and decided to field first. Pakistan is historically not a good chasing side however, the management decided to bowl first because they wanted to give some practice to
the batsmen chasing a total in the second innings.
English team was off to a slow start as Shoaib Akhtar and Junaid Khan bowled stingy spells to contain the Poms. Andrew Strauss could not capitalize on the opportunity and was dismissed quite cheaply by Rawalpindi Express to unsettle the top order of the
English batting line up. However, a couple of brilliant knocks by Kevin Pietersen and Paul Collingwood as they made 66 and 65 runs respectively ensured that England reaches a very competitive score of 273 runs before being bowled out in the last over of the
innings.
Young left arm fast bowler Junaid http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khan-c71319 impressed one and all as he picked up three wickets after giving away 44 runs in his nine overs. Junaid was not part of Pakistan’s original squad but he replaced Sohail Tanvir after the latter was not able to impress
the team management with his fitness in the ODI series against the Kiwis. Another left armer Wahab Riaz also claimed three scalps to halt England’s progress. Saeed Ajmal claimed a two wickets whereas Shoaib Akhtar and Abdur Rehman picked up a victim each.
It is a very important match for both the teams as they are trying to finalize their team combination. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 might not be the best chasing team in the world but this encounter promises to be an exciting one. The green shirts would be banking on Ahmed
Shehzad and Mohammad Hafeez to give them a solid start and lay a compelling platform for the middle order.
