  1. There are two sides. When you go for lot of experience players you dont get quick reaction from players , this is happening everywhere specialy Indian Test Sqad . But when you go for young player they have first-class cricket experience and quick reaction eg: Sri Lanka(Ajantha Medis,Nuwan Kulasekara). I think Young player should have a chance. Sri Lanka was testing Ajantha Medis in the Asia Cup and he performed well so now he has been put to test cricket too, This was because he had quick reaction and first-class experience.

  2. its good

  3. It is last resort for England. England started off the test series with a bang. There were chances of a victory in the first test for England, which South Africa managed to draw. And subsequently they lost the test series. Now it is all about pride. Drastic changes to the team. A new captain. Hope all these are a few small strides before a giant leap.

  4. Harmison defenitely deserves a place in the team.

  5. Yep. This is definitely a step in the right direction.

  6. I'm not shocked cause England doesn't want to lose the final game against South African even if its a dead rubber match. Look if Steve is fixed up and sorted his attitude then he's a good bet to play a vital role vs the Aussis next year but the manner with which his recall has been handled, it makes you wonder if they are not giving him the wrong message. But I'm at least pleased that Broad is back in the team, he needs experience, he's a find and certainly one for the future. So to answer your question, perhaps the plan is have Harmison for the next two seasons and then eventualy get Broad into the team but I'm suprised Sajid Mahmood is nowhere at the moment.

  7. i dont think so because harmison is the best bowler in ENGLAND (that i think) . so.......

    it is a good direction

  8. Harmy is only 29, so should be just reaching his peak as a fast bowler, we just need a confident Harmison, if so he will be a different proposition to what SA have been facing so far. I would also like to see Simon Jones in, reverse swing at 90mph will test anyone.

The youngsters have had a go , and not done themselves any harm ,. but the experience is missing and the heart has not looked to be there.

  9. THis step shoul d be taken in last test

  10. Its a very good question

If you look in the near future then bringing back Harmison was a great decision. The Oval pitch suits Harmison's bowling to a tee, the pitch will have pace, bounce and great carry so surely Harmison will take wickets at The Oval (he has taken the most wickets in the County Championship this season). Harmison at the moment should be in his prime as a fast bowler, cricketers in general are at there best when they are near (or just past) there 30's. This is because, when you are near your 30's you know your game inside out. So you should be comfortable with your game. So i dont believe Harmison was too old to be recalled

    BUT

If you look in the long-term, its a bad decision. England face India in there next test series. Now in India pitches are slow and flat (the kind of pitches Harmison hates) so if Harmison plays in the 4th test at The Oval and takes loads of wickets, that would actually be bad for England in the long-term because, Harmison will struggle on Indian pitches, so my point is that if Harmison takes wickets in the 4th test, then he will play against India in the winter, where he will struggle to take wickets and his England career will probably be over.

Also there are players, young players like Sajid Mahmood and Liam Plunkett who offer the same as Harmison does, but both bowlers can swing the ball too (Harmison cant swing the ball reguarly). So England have gone for the safe option instead of bringing in a talented youngster

So to sum up, Harmisons inclusion is good for the short-term but bad for the long-term
