On Tuesday, September 27, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 Cricket Board (ECB) announced the 15-man squad that will travel to India for a five match ODI series starting in October, 2011.
One of the most prominent figures missing from the English team was right-arm fast bowler http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JM-Anderson-c1705. ECB is inclined towards sharing the workload between senior and junior players and for that very reason they have decided
to give Anderson some time off. Stuart Meaker from Surrey has been included in the side as his replacement.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KP-Pietersen-c1806, the right-arm batsman, will make a return to the English outfit after serving his time out. The star batsman was not part of the Poms squad that hosted Indians in the One-Day series.
England’s national selector, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Geoffrey-Miller-c58870, was the one who announced the squad. Miller seemed content with the outfit and said that it has a good mix of youth and experience.
“This squad contains an exciting balance of experienced international cricketers along with some very talented younger players who can play the high-quality limited-overs cricket needed to challenge India. The additions of Jos
Buttler and Alex Hales (in Twenty20) will provide valuable experience of playing in the sub-continent,” said http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Miller-c76318.
The selector clarified the reason for omitting Anderson’s name from the squad. He further said that injuries prompted them to give opportunities to the youngsters.
Miller, speaking to media, revealed, “A number of injuries and a decision to omit James Anderson in line with our policy of sensibly managing player workloads give opportunities for other very talented players to continue to develop
as international cricketers.”
Players out with injuries include http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Morgan-c77707 are out due to shoulder injuries, while Stokes is recovering from a finger one.
