England series a tough one for Pakistan, says http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taufeeq-Umar-c92889 – Cricket News Update
Taufeeq Umar, the Pakistani opening batsman, has stated the forthcoming England series is going to be tough, and the Men in Green will have to play out of their skins to beat the No.1 Test team.
Even though Pakistan played well throughout 2011, not losing a single Test series, the first assignment of the New Year is going to be the hardest challenge yet.
"England have been performing very well and their team combination is a very strong one with all of their players in good form. We saw last summer in England, when India was touring there, just what a powerful team http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c749 are. I think that in order for
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 to defeat England we will have to play above our level of ability," Taufeeq told
PakPassion.
England is the No.1 ranked team according to the International Cricket Council’s Test rankings, a position they achieved by defeating http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 in a four match Test series last summer at home. They whitewashed India in a four match Test series, coupled with
retaining the Ashes Down Under early last year.
Pakistan and England are set to meet in a three match Test series before they play four ODIs and three T20s in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 (UAE). Both teams are in-form, as Pakistan recently won back to back Test series, which gears up this particular clash
nicely.
The main threat to Pakistan is going to be pace bowling attack of England, but Taufeeq is confident that he can quell any threat from the bowlers on the top of the order.
Even though the opener has played a solitary Test match against the English, he is looking forward to scoring runs against the best Test team in the world.
"I've played just the one Test match against England at Headingley, which was not a memorable occasion, but I feel that I am in good form, and I'm really looking forward to playing against England," added the 30-year-old opener.
He was Pakistan’s highest run scorer in Test match cricket last calendar year, and he hopes to repeat the same performances in this New Year.
