England skipper, Andrew Strauss, feels it’s too early to decide minnows’ fate in ICC World Cup 2015
England captain, Andrew Strauss, has said that it is was too soon to say whether international cricket's second-tier nations should be kicked out of the ICC World Cup despite http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758
and New Zealand respectively.
Strauss commented, "We played Canada (in a warm-up) and they gave us a good game but let's see how the tournament plays out first and then I think it will be obvious what the right formula is going forward.”
The Kenyans received a 10-wicket thrashing from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 on Sunday after being rolled over for a paltry 69. This was their lowest ever total in a World Cup game and the fifth in the history of mega event. Later in the day, Canada faced
a massive 210-run defeat against the Pearl Island side.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has angered the second-tier nations by saying the next show piece event would be reduced to 10 teams only, a move that effectively outlaws participation by the associate nations.
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 captain, Ricky Ponting had also questioned if the ICC World Cup was the right stage to provide minnows an opportunity to experience big guns. "…I have always been unsure if World Cups and Champions Trophies are the right places
to do that,” said Ponting while talking to the media. “At the moment really I am not sure how much the teams actually learn in tournaments like that," he added further.
But Ponting’s English counterpart holds a different opinion. "My view on this is let the tournament finish first and then draw any conclusions that need to be drawn,” said Strauss whose side survived a humiliating scare against the low-ranked
Canadian side in the ICC World Cup warm-up game last week. "http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ireland-c751 and the Netherlands are two strong associate nations so they are certainly capable of causing a couple of upsets," reckoned the English skipper.
England, placed in Group B of the ICC World Cup 2011, are all set to kick off their campaign against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 in Bangalore on 27th of this month.
