England tour of Sri Lanka: Andrew Strauss wants Test side to move on – Cricket News Update
England Test skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AJ-Strauss-c964, sees the upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka as a great opportunity to bury the ghosts of the Test series whitewash by Pakistan in April, 2012. Strauss wants his men to move on from the past and look forward to the
future.
England, the number one team on International Cricket Council’s (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625) Test rankings, was thrashed by the Green Shirts in the Test series 3-0, however, the English bounced back to win the ODI series 4-0.
Strauss asserts that England’s ODI team is back on track and now it is time for the Test team to do the same.
He said, “One of the real advantages of international cricket is it always gives you the chance to move on. The guys in the one-day team will have moved on from the Pakistan Test series pretty quickly and now it's an opportunity for the Test squad to move
on from what happened.”
The English skipper has faith in his players' abilities and opines that one bad series does not make them an average side. Strauss considers the defeat against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 as a wakeup call and is assured that it will help England come out as a stronger unit.
The Poms do not have a great track record in Asia and it is something that the English skipper wants to improve. Hoping to turn the tables around, Strauss said, “We're still very confident in our abilities, still confident that we've got as good a side as
any in the world. This (series) has the potential to be a really good opportunity to make some strides forward in this part of the world and we're determined to take it.”
