England tour of Sri Lanka: James Anderson’s seven help England win the tour game – Cricket News Update
England started their tour of Sri Lanka by winning the three day warm-up game against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 Board XI, played at the R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. The tourists won the match by an innings and 15 runs. Sri Lanka Board XI, who
were trailing by 134 runs, were bundled out for 119 runs in just 56.4 overs.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JM-Anderson-c1705, the English pacer, led the charge as he finished the match notching seven wickets for just 40 runs. The pacer was content with the English team’s performance in the match.
Reflecting on his side’s performance in the match, Anderson said, “I thought it was a pretty good three days for us both with bat and ball. We couldn't have asked for more and I thought they were two brilliant bowling performances
in both innings. We want to play with the same intensity.”
The 29-year-old pacer said that the three-day game has helped his side prepare better for the upcoming series. Anderson wants his compatriots to show the same passion in the Test series as they have showed in the warm-up game.
He said, “(First-class cricket) is a much better way for us to prepare for a Test series rather than playing a 13 versus 13 where you don't get that same intensity.”
England is scheduled to play two Test matches against Sri Lanka during the series. The Poms are coming off a three-nil whitewash in Tests at the hands of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 and needs to sort out things quickly because they are in for a gruelling
summer.
Knowing what lies ahead for the Poms, Anderson said, “There are sterner challenges ahead but all we can do is play what is put in front of us. We know full well it is going to get harder throughout the tour with the heat and the
opposition.”
The first Test match between England and Sri Lanka starts from Monday, March 26, at Galle International Stadium. The opening fixture will be followed by a five-day game at P Sara Oval, Colombo on Tuesday, April 3, 2012.
