England tour of Sri Lanka: Poms wait on http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SCJ-Broad-c2465 – Cricket News Update
England is not going rush Stuart Broad, the right-arm fast bowler into the side for their tour of Sri Lanka. Broad picked up an ankle injury in the warm-up match against the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 Board XI, and the English team management want to wait on his recovery.
Broad strained his ankle right on the eve of the three day game and was deemed unfit to play; http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ST-Finn-c2566 was inducted into the side in his place. The pacer is still not match fit, and was below par during the English team’s fielding session. The 25-year-old
however participated in the bowling and batting sessions and looked at ease.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-Flower-c44362, the team’s head coach, revealed that the pacer is making good progress. However, he did caution that the final decision to rest or play him will be made once the extent of his injury is known.
He said, “He's been recovering OK and he will be fitness tested this afternoon. After he's had a bowl we'll decide whether we are going to play him. That decision could be made after training or in the morning when we see how he pulls up then.”
The English coach seemed content with his side’s preparation for the first Test match against Sri Lanka. Flower expects the Lankan team, who are in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 taking part in the Asia Cup 2012, to be undercooked.
He said, “I think it (the Asia Cup) is probably not Sri Lanka's ideal preparation. They are very experienced cricketers and they will be used to switching from one format to another. But I think they might be slightly undercooked on that front and obviously
we'd like to take the initiative.”
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 has one final warm-up match against the Sri Lanka Cricket Development XI which starts from Tuesday, March 20, 2012, before they play Sri Lanka in the first Test match at Galle. The Poms may not risk Broad for this game, and this provides Finn another
chance to show-off his skills.
England will be hoping that Broad recovers in time for the first Test match, as he is the mainstay of the English attack.
