England v France: Chris Ashton speaks, determined to get over the line again
Numerous rugby personals and critics have admitted that England’s rugby has improved immensely as a brand and since the last year’s Six Nations, world has seen England get a level up on and off field. One of the greatest developments by England is the development
of the young winger Chris Ashton as a key player of the team.
He has so far scored nine tries in previous nine games and is being compared by the likes of Jason Robinson, who was also a league imported player and turned out to be a star. The Northampton wing, Ashton has been in sparkling shape and scored four tries
against Wales for his national side.
Talking about his current form and the sudden backline strengthening after years of stammering, he said, “You have to appreciate it's all very fresh to me and fresh to a good chunk of the team. We're auspicious that we've no baggage from former era and we
can mould the sport in the way we want to play. The administration is good about that and promotes it.”
Ashton believes there is nothing for him to fear and he ready to face every challenge coming his way, including the dangerous French backline. He believes this fresh feeling has given England an edge and it is the reason backline has been so active and confident.
Blend of the experienced and the young players have worked out pretty well for England and with players like Cueto, Ashton certainly is well protected and guided. He admitted that every young player gets along the experienced lot and get maximum support.
Talking about his relations in the team, Ashton added, “They've been there many times before and assist me incalculably in terms of positional play and defence. But I'm not hiding and if I've something to say, I'll say it. It cuts both ways and we are all
modest enough to be trained off each other.”
No doubt he is a superb player and a has an arrogant and swift approach on the field, he will be tested against France and his real worth will be shown on Saturday. He has marauder character and will bring full use of it in the upcoming clash.
Talking about his recent consistent scorings, he concluded, “I have a deep-seated craving to score. It's like an obsession, a drug addiction, and I'm frantic for my fix. In my mind, I'll do everything and anything to get over the line.”
