England v France: Marc Lievermont announces French squad
Marc Lievermont, the French coach just made four changes to his squad and finally announced his side for Saturday’s clas against England in RBS Six Nations at Twickenham.
The caveman himself, Sebastian Chabal has been recalled along with Yannick Jauzion, Dimitri Yachvili and Vincent Clerc. On the other hand Maxime Medard who had replaced Clement Poitrenaud is doubtful for the fullback position after being reported to have
a thigh injury. His place will be taken by Poitrenaud or probably Damien Traille will get the chance.
Poitrenaud has already played against Ireland on the inside and England won 25-22. His position was reshuffled and was sent to fullback when Maxime Mermoz was injured. Poitrenaud was dropped to bench against Wales.
Damien Traille has only played the opening match against Scotland as a fullback, which England won by 34-21. He was sent to centre position in the Ireland’s match and was also sent to bench against Wales.
Julien Bonnaire and Morgan Parra make their way to bench alongside Traille in French battle against the English side, which has a 100% result in the tournament so far.
Dimitri Yachvili, Biarrtiz’s scrum half has replaced Parra, while Traille has been replaced by Yannick Jauzion, the Toulouse’s midfielder, for the number twelve jersey.
Vincent Clerc’s entry in the starting lineup means the Toulouse’s flyer has to benched and Sebastian Chabal comes in for Bonnaire in the back row.
Lievermont is not the only one convinced by the French squad, but the defense coach, Dave Ellis believes that England will not get much room to play. He admitted that Italy was an easy side this year and France is totally opposite to it. He said, “First
and foremost, you've got to stop giving England decent ball.”
He added, “Italy gave them far too much. They just let them play. They were allowed to play at their own tempo. We won't let them do that.”
