http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Young-c98322 players, who have been dropped by the selection panel of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) from the squad for England tour, not to lose heart and struggle to overcome their deficiencies.
He has asked them to keep this issue away from their ongoing Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760.
The BCCI selection committee met on July 3 to finalise a 17-member squad for a Test series against England. The squad consists of:
MS Dhoni (capt/wk), http://www.senore.com/Cricket/I-Sharma-c1566,
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/P-Kumar-c2143.
Young players such as, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Subramaniam-Badrinath-c91587 have been sidelined by the selectors.
As all these players are currently playing a Test series against West Indies, Dhoni fears that their ouster from the squad can affect their performance against the Caribbean.
Talking to the media, Dhoni said:
“Those who have been dropped need to take the positives out of a series or a match and they need to go back and work on their game. We need to interact with the players to see what's happening with them and make sure they are not bogged down. Selection is
not really in their hands. I wanted to ensure they get the bigger picture. It is important that the morale is high because opportunities will keep coming”.
Team India is set to leave for England just after the conclusion of their ongoing series in West Indies. They will play the first Test of the four match series on July 21-25 at Lord’s, the Home of Cricket.
This series is regarded as highly significant both in England and India as the latter is the world’s top-ranked Test nation and the former is h**l-bent win that honour.
