England v India – 2nd Test – Indian bowling performance analysis
England defeated India in the second match of the four-Test series at Trent Bridge by a heavy margin of 319 and the home team is now leading the series 2-0 and look favourites to clinch the number one ranking in Test cricket.
Before the series started, majority of the cricket analysts around the world were rating the Indian bowling attack as the major worry for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Z-Khan-c98379 made things worse
for the Indian team, which already lacked the killing instinct in the bowler department.
Indian bowlers have been way too inconsistent in the series so far as they bowled some extra-ordinary spells in both the Test matches and then they allowed things to drift away.
India had high hopes on http://www.senore.com/Cricket/I-Sharma-c1566 as he bowled brilliantly in the Caribbean tour. The lanky fast bowler did come up with an extra-ordinary spell of fast bowling before lunch on day four of the first Test at Lords. However, that was the only peace of
brilliance he could produce in the two matches so far.
The most disappointing thing for the Indian management was the fact that the English batsmen scored their runs freely at will in the second innings at Trent Bridge, where the bowlers were getting some assistance. The likes of Ishant Sharma and Shantakumaran
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/S-Sreesanth-c2398 leaked too many runs.
Ironically, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 scored 544 runs in their second innings at a smashing run rate of more than 4.5 runs per over, which is absolutely stunning for Test match standards. One can easily say that the Indian bowling was exposed on the third day of the Trent
Bridge Test.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Harbhajan-Singh-c61453 has been a great servant of Indian cricket over the years but he seems to have lost the venom since last couple of years. He has been completely ineffective in the series so far as he has just been able to pick up two wickets in as many Test
matches till date.
This is about time that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/A-Mishra-c871, who has the ability to spin the ball on any surface. He is a wrist spinner and has a lot of variety under his belt and will surely have a better chance to dismantle the English
batsmen as compared to Harbhajan.
The only positive for the Indian team in the bowling department has been the performance of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 but the medium pacer has proved that he can be a
lethal Test bowler as well, especially in England, where the ball tends to swing in the air.
India will be hoping that Zaheer can achieve complete fitness before the next Test at Edgbaston. The left arm fast bowler surely has the ability to change the fortunes for India.
England is usually considered as a paradise for fast bowlers and if the Indian bowlers are struggling to perform there, no wonder the cricket analysts are questioning their supremacy in Test cricket.
