England trail by 140 runs with all wickets in hand in the third Test against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 at Edgbaston, Birmingham after restricting the tourists to a tally of 224 runs on the first day.
Coming into the match with a lead of 2-0, England on winning the toss put India into bat in a bid to get the tourists bowled out before letting them put enough runs on the board as England seek to grab the number one spot in Test cricket by dethroning the
reigning number one team.
The plan almost worked as the Indian top order was nearly annihilated before the Indian skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028 came along to pull his side out from the troublesome situation by playing a superb knock of 77 runs.

a run which was a shocker for India as they were banking on the successful return by their ace opener to help strengthen their batting line-up which had failed to cope with the English conditions in the series so far.

The situation seemed like a Deja vu to many cricket followers who had seen the Indian batting go through the same situation in the previous matches of the series.
In the 27th over, Dravid had his wickets shattered by an in swinging delivery bolted by Bresnan that rammed into the batsman’s wicket, causing him to walk back to the pavilion after scoring 22 runs off 68 deliveries.
The side were on 92 runs for the loss of five wickets when Dhoni walked in as the situation looked bleak for the tourists on the opening day of the crucial match.
However, in the end India managed to post 224 runs on the board, giving their bowlers something worth fighting for.
