England v India – 5th ODI – Can the Indian bowlers raise their game in the last match of the tour?
India and England will be up against each other in the final match of the five-match One Day International (ODI) series at the Sophia Gardens, Cardiff on the 16th of September, 2011. England has already sealed the series by winning two matches,
one match was abandoned due to rain, whereas, the fourth ODI was tied between the two teams.
However, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 will be playing for pride and the Men in Blue will be looking for a consolation victory over the home team as they are yet to beat them on the tour.
Bowling has been the weak point of the Indian team throughout the tour and the visitors never looked like troubling the home team’s batsmen, neither in the Test series nor in the limited overs portion of the tour.
However, the Indian bowlers will have to raise their game, if they are to entertain thoughts of dismantling http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RA-Jadeja-c2238
and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/R-Ashwin-c2228 have troubled the English batsmen on occasions.
Jadeja was not a part of the original squad named for the tour of England but he was called up later as a replacement. A number of Indian senior players faced injuries during the tour of England, which gave the opportunity to the all-rounder to prove his
worth.
The left-arm spinner has surely added balance to the team as he scored some crucial runs and picked up wickets at the right time. On top of that, Jadeja is a fantastic fielder. He has the ability to tie down the batsmen in the middle of the innings and can
provide important breakthroughs to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028, it makes him one of the bowlers to watch out for in the last match of the tour.
Ashwin struggled in the initial part of the limited overs series but he got his act together in the last couple of ODIs. The young off-spinner is considered as the future of India’s spin bowling and he has shown his abilities in International cricket since
making his debut. Ashwin has the ability to spin the ball and his variations make him a handy bowler. Especially, his carom ball is very hard to pick even for the best in the business.
The performance of the Indian fast bowlers has been disappointing on the tour so far, with an exception of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/P-Kumar-c2143. A number of cricket analysts have criticized the Indian team management for not giving an opportunity to a young fast bowler like Varun
Aaron, even though the senior fast bowlers have failed to impress in conditions which were helpful for the seam bowling.
Former http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wasim-Akram-c96292, who is working as a commentator in the series, said that he would have given an opportunity to Aaron, as the youngster looks to be a future prospect because of his natural talent and pace.
"I would rather blood Aaron in England because the seaming conditions are ideal for him. It will be silly to give Aaron a start on Indian wickets. On placid tracks where he will get little support, two bad matches in the start of his career can destroy him,"
said Akram.
It remains to be seen that the Indian bowlers can deliver the goods in the last match of the England tour of not.
