England v India: Eoin Morgan ruled out of NatWest series due to a shoulder injury - Cricket News Update
On Tuesday, September 6, England’s cricket team suffered a blow when their middle-order batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Eoin-Joseph-Gerard-Morgan-c56032, was ruled out of the ongoing NatWest series, being played against India, due to a recurring shoulder injury.
At the moment, it is not clear how much time is required for the treatment and when the batsman will recuperate from the injury. Morgan’s case will be assessed in next few days after which a final verdict will be passed.
Dr Nick Peirce, the English team’s chief medical officer, made the news public. The doctor revealed that Morgan initially picked up the injury during England’s tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, but it flared up once again after the one-off Twenty20
match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, played at the Old Trafford cricket ground.
Pierce said, “Eoin initially developed discomfort in his right shoulder during the Ashes tour in the winter and has been managing the injury until now with a conservative program. Unfortunately there has been an acute flare in
his pain which has not responded to treatment.”
The medical officer continued, “This is a chronic injury and predominantly effects Eoin's diving and throwing. He now requires a progression in his treatment and will undertake further specialist assessment in the next week before
a decision on his forthcoming treatment will be determined.”
Morgan’s injury has opened up chances for the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ben-Stokes-c1142 in the lower middle order as England Cricket Board (ECB) has not yet called in a replacement for the injured cricketer.
England host http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 for two Twenty20 internationals later this month and considering the condition Morgan is in, the left-hander may miss out on that as well. However, he is expected to be part of the Poms squad when they
embark on the tour of India in October.
