http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750: Kevin Pietersen disappointed to miss out on a double-century at The Oval- Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KP-Pietersen-c1806, England's hard-hitting right-hand batsman, was a bit disappointed after he missed out on a chance to score a double-century against India in the fourth and final Test of the npower series, being played at The Oval.
The batsman, however, was pleased with the show exhibited by Poms' batting department, and said that on the eve of day two, had any one told him that he would score 175 runs, he would have grabbed it with both hands.
When asked did he feel disappointed, Pietersen said, “Yah! That’s a little bit greedy but in the morning had anyone said I would get 175 I would have said thank you. It’s nice to strike the ball like that today... real good....what
a day we almost scored 400 runs in a day which is nice.”
Pietersen came out to bat at the demise of his Test skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/IR-Bell-c1597, amassed 350 runs for the third wicket.
Both batsmen commended each other well throughout their partnership.
When asked how he and Bell troubled Indian bowlers, Pietersen said, “When you bat with somebody who is a bit shorter than you, bowlers get confused as I can lean forward with ease and play shots so they drag their line back and
ball short of length which becomes easy for the likes Bell as he can punch shots of back foot. It’s really nice to have a combination of batters who are so different.”
Pietersen believes it was good batting from English batsmen rather than poor bowling that steadied their position in the match.
The right-handed batsman said that Indian team got some quality in their bowling attack and to be fair to English batters, they worked hard by grounding good balls and made sure they used as many balls as possible and frustrate
the opposition.
Pietersen revealed that it is something English team and management talk about during team meetings and he was glad that he delivered as per their demands.
England will resume day three of Oval Test at 11:00 am local time. They have piled 457 runs with seven wickets in hand.
