England beat India in the only Twenty20 match of the tour by six wickets after successfully chasing a tally of 165 runs posted by the visitors http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 at Old Trafford, Manchester.
This was the first time the two teams went against each other after the conclusion of the sensational four-match Test series which saw hosts http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 grab the number one spot in Test cricket by beating India 4-0.
Before the T20 match, fans were expecting an Indian resurgence by beating the English in the shortest version of the game, however, England’s mild-mannered http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Eoin-Joseph-Gerard-Morgan-c56032 made sure not to let India heal some pride by winning this match as the middle-order batsman played a sensational innings of 49 runs off 27 deliveries, helping his side overcome a tally posted by the Indians.
Earlier in the day, India won the toss and chose to bat first in a bid to post a tough target on the board for England to run after. However, after only 39 runs, India suffered their first loss when opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SCJ-Broad-c2465 at mid-on off the bowling of Jade Dernbach.
It was then opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/R-Dravid-c2229 who brought stability in the Indian camp as the two batsmen forged a competitive partnership against the English bowlers who kept bolting deliveries right at them.
It was then in the 12th over when England struck gold as they managed to grab the wicket of Dravid, who after a playing commendable innings of 31 runs off 21 deliveries was caught by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RS-Bopara-c2373.
In the next over, skipper Broad struck by taking the wicket of Rahane as the batsman was caught by Dernbach after playing a sensational innings of 61 runs off 39 deliveries. At the time of his departure India had managed to post 106 runs on the board for the loss of three wickets.
However, after this wicket England grabbed hold of the situation as they did not allow the remaining batsmen to play freely by preventing them to score in double figures.
It was only http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SK-Raina-c2539 who managed to take his score to 33 runs as he played an important role in helping India post a tally beyond 150 runs.
Later, coming out to bat the English had a clear target in front of them and knew that they needed to keep wickets in hand to ultimately achieve a victory in the game.
