The left-handed opening batsman from India, Parthiv Patel, has been in good knick off-late and with senior players like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/V-Sehwag-c2739 missing from action due to injuries, the responsibility to provide his
side with a good start is greater than before.
However, the left-hander vows not to change his style of batting and stay aggressive, as it has worked for him. Patel played his careers best ODI innings against England at Riverside Ground, Chester-le-Street on Saturday, September
3.
The 26-year-old batsman lashed out at English bowlers and notched 95 runs in the process, propelling India to 274. Though, his efforts went in vain as the match was abandoned due to rain.
Patel, who was content with his performance in the first ODI, said, “I would play my natural game. Personally, I don't need to change my game. I scored with it in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 and in the first ODI. I am happy that I could execute
my plans and would like to continue. It is everyone's responsibility that once he gets in; he needs to score big runs.”
English bowlers have made a mockery of the Indian batting brigade by exploiting their weakness against short deliveries. Most batsmen failed to cope with the extra pace and bounce found on English pitches and as a result have fallen
easy prey but Patel seemed to be at ease when playing bouncers.
The 26-year-old feels that he had more time to prepare for the series and the labour he put in National Cricket Academy has paid off.
“I had the advantage of watching England's bowling in Tests. They had a plan to bowl short to our batsmen. In the 7-8 days I was in National Cricket Academy (NCA), I prepared myself against short-pitched bowling. I knew if I opened,
they would come hard at me,” said http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Huzefa-Mohammed-Patel-c63657.
The Men in Blue are without nine of their star players who won the 2011 World Cup but according to Patel they still have a very good chance of winning the series. The Left-handed batsman reckons that it is a great opportunity for
youngsters to show off their skills and make a name for themselves.
The second match of Natwest series between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 and England is scheduled to be played at The Rose Bowl, Southampton on Tuesday, September 6.
