England 201/8 (42/42 ov) v Ireland 117/8 (23.0/23 ov, target 129) - England won
by 11 runs (D/L method)

England beat Ireland by eleven runs in a rain affected One Day International (ODI) match played at Clontarf Cricket Club Ground, Dublin, after posting a tally of 201 runs off 42 overs which was reduced to 129 runs in 23
overs due to the Duckworth–Lewis method (D/L method).

After winning the toss, Ireland chose to field first in a bid to halt the English on a meagre tally to grab a win in the match.

From England, Jonathan Trott and Craig Kieswetter started the proceedings. The opening duo posted 24 runs before Ireland finally managed to earn a breakthrough when Kieswetter after playing an innings of 14 runs off 26
deliveries was caught behind by the Irish wicketkeeper NJ O'Brien, off the bowling of John Mooney.

Ireland then grabbed another quick wicket of James Taylor as the batsman found his way back to the pavilion after knocking only a run before being caught by Wilson off the bowling of Boyd Rankin.

However, Ireland’s onslaught was put to halt by England as Eoin Morgan forged a handsome partnership with Trott to leave the Irish in ruins as the batsmen clobbered their opposition all around the park, giving the spectators
plenty to cheer about.

It was then in the 31st over when Ireland struck again when Morgan was caught and bowled by Stirling , after he had clobbered 59 runs off 65 deliveries. At the time of his departure the English had posted 136
runs on the board.

Ravi Bopara then failed again to impress anyone as he went back to the pavilion after scoring two runs off four deliveries. The batsman was caught by wicketkeeper NJ O'Brien off the bowling of Nigel Jones.

While the English tail chipped in, it was the phenomenal innings from Trott that really left the Ireland side flabbergasted as he smashed 69 runs off 105 deliveries in an innings that included six boundaries as England
finished their innings after posting a tally beyond 200.

However, coming out to bat the target was reduced due to rain as the Irish now had 23 overs to play.

Nonetheless, the Men in Green had an unimpressive start to their innings when on the score of 12 runs they lost the services of opener Paul Stirling, who after scoring six runs was caught by Bopara off the bowling of Steven
Finn.

Finn struck again in the eighth over when he dismissed opener Ed Joyce, who after scoring ten runs fell to his demise when he was caught behind by the English wicketkeeper Kieswetter.

The Irish middle-order was then left in tatters by Jade Dernbach, who bowled magnificently to snatch three wickets in his five overs.

In the end Ireland could only bolster 117 runs in response to England’s tally as they lost the game.
