England v South Africa - South Africa tour of England - 3rd T20I – Toss Report
South Africa have won the toss and elected to field first in the three-match series finale against hosts England at Edgbaston, Birmingham. Due to the delayed start, both sides will now bowl 11 overs each.
Leading the T20I tournament by 1-0, the Proteas would be aiming to finish off their tour on a victory.
Meanwhile, after losing the Test series and then failing to win the One Day Internationals (ODIs), the hosts would be looking to make amends by preventing a series defeat today, and although England cannot take the tournament, they still have an opportunity to level the contest by winning this fixture.
The tour has been especially memorable for South Africa, as they attained the number-one spot in all formats of the game, beginning with their win against the Poms in the three-match Test series.
Today’s match will be the last chance for both sides to fine tune their T20 squads before departing to Sri Lanka for the World T20 Championship.
England have failed to execute their plans against South Africa and playing against the likes of Pakistan, India and Sri Lanka in the subcontinent is not going to be easy either.
However, in Birmingham the hosts are most likely going to stick to the same squad, choosing to play safe.
On the other hand, South Africa are expected to toy with their winning combination and perhaps give the lower-order batsmen some more batting practice by promoting them up the order.
Pitch Report:
With Edgbaston experiencing showers before the game, the outfield is still damp and might be a cause of concern for the umpires.
Batsmen will find it a bit difficult to reach boundaries earlier in the innings, but with the sun shining above, batting will become easier later in the day.
If the weather holds, fans are in for some intense competition between both teams.
