England v http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 – Series Preview: An uphill battle for the visitors – Part Two
Although English batting looks compact on paper as their recent performances suggest but Law feels that certain weaknesses can be found in home team’s lineup. He believes that the Sri Lankan team should take things as they come and try to concentrate on
each and every session of a Test match.
Sri Lankan team management understands their weakness and this is the reason why they have decided to make specific plans for individual English batsmen.
Sri Lankan coach said, "We are not underestimating one facet of their game. People say certain areas of their batting line-up can be exposed, but we are not seeing it that way. We are just trying to plan for each batsman. We need to play good consistent
cricket for five days, and if we can sniff a result we need to put a foot on the throat."
On the other side of the coin, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JM-Anderson-c1705 and Chris Tremlett may not be that effective in sub-continent or tracks where there is no assistance for the seam
bowlers; however, they are deadly dangerous in the English conditions where they get lateral movement.  It was proved in last summer’s series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 as Anderson was almost unplayable for the inexperienced batsmen.
The tourists have faced another setback as their experienced bowler http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MF-Maharoof-c1944 has been called up as a cover for them. This makes the Sri Lankan bowling even weaker
and provides a great opportunity to some of English batsmen to score big runs in the series.
Another negative for the tourists is the fact that this is the first complete series of Dilshan as the captain of the national team. It is going to be a huge test of Dilshan’s character as he is bound to face a number of difficult situations in the series.
Aggressive opener may consider him a little unlucky as the captains before him had the luxury of having great bowlers up their sleeves like Murali and Vaas. This is not the case for Dilshan and he might have to toil hard in the field against a batting lineup
which has the potential to bat for long hours.
Former Sri Lankan captain and current middle order batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DPMD-Jayawardene-c1397 has come out in support of his new captain and feels that Dilshan’s captaincy will have a very positive reflection on the whole unit as he is someone who makes others feel very
comfortable.
He also admits that the tour of England is a big challenge for the Sri Lankan team but claimed that he is ready for the challenge.
“Dilshan will keep it simple, and play the way he plays. He's easy going, he loves a challenge, he's free-flowing, and all of this will reflect on the way he runs the side. It's challenging but at the same time it's what Test cricket is all about. I love
these kinds of challenges.” Jayawardene said.
England will surely start as favourites in the series but they can expect a tough battle by the visitors because the Sri Lankan team is known to fight till the very last ball. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AJ-Strauss-c964 and company will make a huge mistake if they underestimate the
tourists as it may fire back. Let’s hope that an intriguing series awaits us and we witness some high quality Test cricket.
