England v West Indies - West Indies tour of England - 1st Test - Day 3 – Live Score and Update
West Indies 243 & 120/4 (50.0 ov) v England 398 - West Indies trail by 35 runs with 6 wickets remaining
Saturday: At stumps on the third day of the first Test between hosts England and tourists West Indies, the latter trail by 35 runs with six wickets in hand as they hammered 120 runs in their second innings in response to a second innings total of 398 runs posted by England at Lord's, London.
For England skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AJ-Strauss-c964, the day was not eventful as he lost his wicket after just adding one run to his overnight tally of 121 runs. Nonetheless, his massive innings had put his side in a commanding position, from where it was up to the remaining batsmen to clobber an unbeatable total to leave the visitors in ruins.
While on the second day, West Indies bowlers had no answer to Strauss, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KAJ-Roach-c1758, made a mark by dismissing the English skipper to avoid another day of facing his unmatchable clobbering.
However, the end of Strauss’ innings was not the end for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/IR-Bell-c1597, who had scored only five runs a day earlier, seemed in impeccable form as he timed some of the finest shots in modern-day cricket.
Bell was joined by JM Bairstow on the demise of the skipper, and together the two batsmen steered the team tally to 292 runs before Bairstow was trapped right in front of stumps on a delivery by Roach after he had scored 16 runs.
Wicketkeeper/batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Prior-c1984, then took the field as he aimed to contribute a big knock in the innings.
Both Prior and Bell clobbered England to a total of 320 runs after which it was time for Prior to take a long walk back to the pavilion on losing his wicket to Shannon Gabriel after scoring 19 runs.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/GP-Swann-c1501 played as stupendous knock of 30 runs to put a serious question mark on the ability of West Indies bowlers to bowl in the death.
Bell was the last man to lose his wicket after the middle-order batsman hammered a knock of 61 runs.
West Indies were then put under pressure by England bowlers as the side lost four wickets before the end of the day’s play with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/S-Chanderpaul-c2390 unbeaten on 34 and MN Samuels on 26 runs.
