England vs. Pakistan, 3rd Test, the Oval, 2nd day- England 1st Inns 233, Pakistan 1st Inns 111/4
The second day of the third test between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yasir-Hameed-c2811, who edged the second ball of the day through to wicket-keeper Matt Prior.
Yasir who had cracked six fours and one six in his innings yesterday failed to add any run to his overnight score of 36 runs.
His departure was a big blow to the tourists, who had hoped to build onto their encouraging start on day one, yet their aspirations were nipped in the bud.
Out of form captain, Salman Butt then joined night watchman Wahab Riaz at the crease the left-hander who had averaged a woeful 4 runs per innings in the first two tests of the series, was lucky to have been dropped by Eoin Morgan off James Anderson, as his attempted cut short went through Morgan’s hands.
However, Graeme Swann cut his innings short, as he claimed a wicket in the first over of his spell for the umpteenth time in test cricket.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Salman-c88163 had crashed the first ball he faced from him for a four through the point region , but it was all doom and gloom once again for him only a ball later as another attempted cut landed in the hands of Prior behind the stumps.
Night watchman Wahab Riaz played his role fittingly at the start of the day occupying the crease to frustrate the hosts besides playing attacking shots when ever an opportunity arose.
Riaz became the latest Pakistani tail-ender in the series to score crucial runs for his team, as he gave the main batsmen a lesson of how to occupy the crease and wear out the opposition.
In the first two tests Umar Gul and Saeed Ajmal scored their maiden half centuries to pile on the misery for the hosts, who found the top order as easy to wipe out as an innocuous tail enders line-up!
The pair of Yousuf and Wahab Riaz ensured that the Pakistan team does not collapse in a heap, as they had in the first two test matches, yet on the stroke of lunch Riaz’s resistance ended with the right hander falling lbw to Strauss for 27 runs.
The match is evenly poised at lunch on day two with Yousuf and Azhar Ali at the crease and the score at 111/4.
