approach. Amla’s stroke play was majestic and captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/TT-Bresnan-c2711 to the boundary in the 65th over of the
innings. His ton came in his 100th Test match for South Africa and included 16 boundaries.
Hashim http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JM-Anderson-c1705 to third man. Both batsmen became resolute in their approach after scoring centuries and built upon a solid foundation. Underneath sunny
skies for the most part of the day, English bowlers toiled hard, but their one dimensional approach became easy pickings for the South African batsmen.
Their only real success in the day came in the form of Tim Bresnan dislodging Graeme Smith for 131 in the 88th over. Smith managed to unluckily drag a delivery on to the stumps while attempting to defend it. Bresnan’s desperately needed breakthrough
ended a memorable knock by the South African captain. His dismissal brought http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 were by then well perched at 277 for 2 with no signs of being
pushed over the line. English bowlers ran out of ideas and even the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/GP-Swann-c1501, who managed to fox Smith on a few occasions, were left speechless.
South Africa kept on piling up the runs after tea and England kept on experimenting with their bowling options. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RS-Bopara-c2373 in the 110th over, but by then South Africa was already inching closer to England’s total of 385.
Amla went on to score 150 and Kallis brought up his 56th half century in Test cricket. The former managed to defend the bowlers with assurance in the latter part of the session and there was no further damage done as South Africa were in complete
command at 403 for 2 at the end of the third day’s play. Amla remained not out on 183 and Kallis went to the dressing room unbeaten on 82.
South Africa currently has a lead of 18 runs with 8 wickets remaining and two days to play.
