England wants to be the number one ranked Test team of the world says James Anderson
England’s fast bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AJ-Strauss-c964, has the ability to become the best ever English side.
Anderson missed the second Test against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 because of an injury but he is fit again and is all set to play the third match of the series at Southampton, which is going to start on Thursday, June 16, 2011. The home team is currently leading the three
match series 1-0.
Some cricket analysts feel that the English team in the 1980s was the strongest, while some believe that the best team was http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Michael-Paul-Vaughan-c76145 and men, who defeated Australia in 2005 to regain the Urn after many years.
However, Anderson does not agree with any of those opinions because http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 was not consistent enough in both the mentioned eras.
"I was born a couple of years after Botham's Ashes and the 2005 team was good. But you can't call them a great team because the following winter we went to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 and got beat and then lost 5-0 in Australia,” he opined.
The current England side has emerged as one of the best Test teams at the present moment as they have won the Ashes 2009 and then retained the Urn earlier this year by beating http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 3-1 at their own backyard.
The spearhead of English bowling lineup expressed the ambition of his team to achieve the top ranking in Test cricket.
However, he believes that England will have to beat http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 in the upcoming series if they want to be called a great team.
The 28-year-old fast bowler also praised the current management for creating such a http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Timothy-Francis-Bloomfield-c94006 atmosphere in the dressing room and said that the reason behind England’s success in last two years is a strong bench-strength.
"We've been working towards this for the past few years. We want to become No.1 in the world and want people to say this is the best ever England side. I think we can do that. This is the best team spirit I've experienced. We've got a really strong squad,
not just a really strong first eleven," said Anderson.
