England won their first Twenty20 match against Australia at Adelaide for the loss of nine wickets on Wednesday.
Australia’s new Twenty20 captain Cameron White won the toss and elected to bat first against England. Before this, the two teams faced each other in the Ashes
where England earned the historic 3-1 Ashes victory over Australia.
It has been a tough challenge for England as their batting line has not been that stable and their fist wicket fell on 16 runs when Steve Davies was caught by
Graeme Smith having scored only 4 runs. Ian Bell was the second player to go when England were on 49. England lost their third wicket on 63 when Kevin Pietersen was caught by captain white on the ball of Brett Lee, scoring 25 runs off 11 balls including 3
fours and one six. Paul Collingwood scored 16 runs off 20 balls before he was caught on the ball of David Hussey.
Eoin Morgan was the only player who could reach 43 runs off 33 balls hitting five fours and one six. After Morgan, there started an immediate fall of the wickets
when Luke Wright was caught lbw adding zero score for his team. This fast fall of wickets put the English a bit under pressure and they lost their seventh wicket at 130 in 15.3 overs. Michael Yardy also remained on zero before he was caught on the ball of
Shane Watson. Chris Woakes and Ajmal Shahzad remained not out at the end of the match and England scarcely managed to cross the target of 157-runs given by their arch-rivals.
Australian bowler Shane Watson performed a splendid job by taking up four wickets bearing just 15 runs, while other bowlers from their side took single wicket
each.
Shane http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Watson-c96326 was the player from the Australian side who scored the highest, 59 off 31 balls including six fours and three sixes. He was the fist player to go
when Australia were on 83. The Australians lost their second wicket shortly after building just nine more runs when left handed batsman David Warner was sent back adding 30 runs off twenty balls including five fours. The skipper Cameron white could hardly
score 6 runs off 14 balls leaving Australia at 115-3.
David Hussey was the last wicket to go from Australian side when they built 133 runs in 16.5 overs.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Aaron-Finch-c881 and Steven Smith, both remained not out for adding 15 runs each.
The England left-arm spinner Michael Yardy, who is the new comer to join the tour for the limited-overs matches, took two wickets in four overs facing 28 runs.
While Chris Woakes and Tim Bresnan both took one wicket each facing 34 and 28 runs respectively. Graeme Swann and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ajmal-Shahzad-c42489 also bowled four overs each but remained wicketless bearing 25 and 40 runs respectively.
