England women’s hockey squad announced for upcoming EuroHockey Nations Championship in Germany
Danny Kerry, the coach of England women’s national hockey team, has selected the 18-member women’s hockey squad for the upcoming EuroHockey Nations Championships going to be held in Monchengladbach, Germany from August 20 to 28 where eight European sides
will compete for the title.
The team consists of a number of experienced and seasoned athletes along with some of the youngsters like 22-year-old Susannah Townsend who was the part of the English women’s Under-21 team which finished at the fourth place, their best ever, in the Junior
World Cup in Boston in 2009. The upcoming EuroHockey Nations Championship will be the first senior international tournament for the mid-field athlete who currently has two senior international appearances under her belt.
“Susannah has earned her first call up for a major tournament following her selection into the senior squad in the New Year. Through good performances for Canterbury in the England Hockey League she was invited for assessment with the senior squad in 2010

The coach of the English team, Danny Kerry seemed very confident and he is looking for a better performance from his athletes in the event as his team has a three week’s training session for the preparation for the championships.
Pool A consists of Spain, Italy, Azerbaijan and the current European Champions, Netherlands while the English side has been kept in Pool B alongside the hosts, Germany, Belgium and Ireland and will start its campaign against Belgium on Saturday, August 20.
