England won’t be complacent against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, asserts Alastair Cook - Cricket News Update
The skipper of England’s One-Day team, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AN-Cook-c1026, has high hopes attached with the young English side that will embark on the tour of India in October.
Cook reckons that Indians will give them a run for their money as the Men in Blue were humbled by the Poms on their tour of England earlier this year. Indians failed to secure even a single win during their visit that lasted nearly
two months, from July 17 till September 16, 2011.
Cook asserts that England won’t be complacent against the Indians as his side still has the hunger and desire to win every game. The left-hander expects his side to perform their best, despite having to play in the opponents backyard.
In an exclusive interview to Skysports, Cook said, “It is a totally different thing to play them in their backyard. One thing about this England side is that we certainly won't be complacent. We are a young side and have a huge
amount of improvement and learning to do. If we are going to win, everyone will have to be at the top of their game.”
The 26-year-old, who was given the responsibility of leading the side after http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AJ-Strauss-c964 stepped down from his post, hasn’t played much in India and is eager to perform in the sub-continent in front of a jam packed house.
Looking forward to the series, Cook said, “It is an amazing experience to go and play one-day cricket in India in front of packed houses. I have only ever played one game there so I'm really excited and it's going to be a real
challenge for us as a side. I know, with the characters we've got, we can hopefully go and do something very special.”
India does not have a good track record when playing abroad but when they are playing at home in front of their supporters, they become invulnerable. The sub-continental pitches support batsmen, and fast bowlers lose their sting
on these surfaces.
The English side is packed with pacers who may not be as effective as they would have been in England, so the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Samit-Patel-c2426 will have to play a major role. England will play five ODI’s and one Twenty20 match
during their tour of India.
