England’s Adam Duffy aiming to hit World Top 64 after 2012 World Snooker Championship qualifiers
World Number 70, England’s Adam Duffy is looking forward to hit the World’s Top 64 after playing in the qualifying session of 2012 World Snooker Championship. This year, the youngster is ambitious to make an impact in the World Championship qualifiers and
improve his ranking so that he can play more professional tournaments.
Sheffield’s Duffy started the 2011-12 Snooker Season by participating in the 2011-12 Players Tour Championship (PTC) Event 1. He could only make it to the second round of the tournament where he lost to Scotland’s Eden Sharav. However, after that he improved
in the next PTC events, unfortunately, he was not able to perform up to the mark in the major ranking events.
According to the Q School rules, the semi-finalist in any of the three Q School events will automatically qualify for the qualifying session of every major ranking tournament in the snooker calendar. Duffy also participated in all major ranking event qualifiers
but he failed to make his way into the televised stages of any of those major events and tumbled down.
However, this time, before the start of the second Q School, Duffy is aiming to perform with all his might in the qualifiers of 2012 World Snooker Champion to get a place in the Top 64. Occupying a place in the Top 64 will increase his chances to hit the
televised stages of any major tournament.
While speaking to World Snooker about his ambition, Duffy said, “I've been delighted with how I have done in my first season, it couldn't have gone much better. If I do well in the World Championship qualifiers I could sneak into the top 64.”
The 22-year-old added, “It has definitely been the best year of my life. Probably the highlight was playing Ronnie O'Sullivan live on Eurosport at the Paul Hunter Classic in Germany. I lost but he made a 147 and the atmosphere was fantastic.”
Currently he is placed in the fourth round of the 2012 World Snooker Championship qualifying session where he will be meeting India’s Lucky Vatnani. Duffy won the professional tour card after reaching the semi-final stage of the 2011 World Snooker Qualifying
School (Q School).
