England’s Ben Foden signs a new one-year deal with Northampton Saints – Rugby News
England’s international Rugby Union player, Ben Foden, has signed a new professional one-year deal with the Aviva Premiership side, Northampton Saints. Officials at the club have confirmed
the extension of his stay at the franchise by two more years on Thursday, October 20.
Northampton Saints have handed over a new contract prior to expiration of Foden’s earlier contract.  England’s international scrum half has a year more to go in his previous contract and his
new deal will allow him to remain at Saints until the end of the 2013/14 season.
Northampton Saints, Director of Rugby, Jim Mallinder has expressed his utmost pleasure and excitement in the extension in stay of the country’s one of the most talented scrumhalves with the
club. He has praised Foden’s rugby playing skills and abilities. He said, “He is a tremendous attacker with ball in hand, but is also an excellent defender.”
Mallinder further has praised Foden’s on and off field commitment for the club. He has expressed his confidence that Foden will continue to work hard to enhance his skills and to grow further.
He added, “Although Ben has developed enormously since coming to Franklin's Gardens we believe that the best is still to come.”
The 26-year-old Foden made started his professional Rugby Union career with the Sales Sharks in 2005. He joined Northampton Saints in 2008. He so far has made 97 Aviva Premiership appearances
and has scored 105 points. For Saints, he so far has played 53 games and scored 55 points, coming from his 11 tries.
Chester born, Foden made his international debut for England against the touring Azzurri’s side during February 2009. He so far has played 22 international matches for England and has scored
five tries for them.
Foden has expressed his excitement on signing his new deal with the Saints. He expressed his satisfaction with the club’s performance and improvement over the years. He said, “I was pretty
quick in putting pen to paper and signing for two more years.”
Foden has expressed his happiness of the club’s achievement during the last season. He expressed his hope that the young side will continue to flourish and become a major in domestic and European
circuit.
