England’s International commitment a concern for IPL franchises says MS Dhoni – Cricket News Update
Despite the English team’s stock rising in the wake of their impressive victory against India, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028 doubts IPL franchises will be vying over the Englishmen, given their international commitments.
"Most of the time when the IPL happens, I don't think the English team has a clear period - so they're not available for the full 45 to 50 days of cricket," Dhoni said. "That's a big concern when it comes to some of the IPL franchises. If most of them were available for the full 45 or 50 days, I could see England players coming to the IPL."
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c749 completed an emphatic Test triumph on Indian soil after a 28-year wait, when they outplayed their intimidating hosts by a 2-1 margin in the recent concluded four-match series. Their impressive showings did not go unnoticed, with many now hoping to see some of the squad members in next year’s IPL.
The 2013 edition will begin in early April, and will run at least till the last week of May. During that period, England would have rounded off their tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754, but will be preparing to host the Kiwis, with the first Test beginning on May 16.
That more or less restricts the English players from taking part in a full IPL season. Currently, only Kevin Pietersen and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Eoin-Joseph-Gerard-Morgan-c56032 have IPL contracts, but they too are likely to be involved in a handful of matches.
With the national team all set to play http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Butler-c48850 to showcase their batting prowess, and catch the eyes of some of the IPL franchises.
Dhoni termed Pietersen’s case a ‘special’ one and reasoned that players of the highest order are an attractive prospect for the owners, as gambling on them for a short period of time seems feasible.
"http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KP-Pietersen-c1806 is a really different batsman," Dhoni said. "If he's available for half a season, the sides can still gamble that he can play seven or eight games at least. He's a special player. But you have to be that special."
