England’s Jack Lisowski hails World Snooker Q School: 2011-12 PTC Grand Finals
Amateur potters across the world are sharpening their cue sticks to take part in the 2012 World Snooker Qualifying School and earn a place in the professional circuit. Young English potter, Jack Lisowski believes that other youngsters can also clinch the
professional tour ticket after playing impressively in the 2012 Q School event.
The youngster occupied a professional spot last year after qualifying via the Old Pontin’s Tour. He was one of those snooker players who played along with the 2011 Q School entrants during the last snooker season. He played up to the mark to make it to the
World Number 50 spot soon after he started playing professionally.
Speaking to World Snooker, Lisowski said, “Q School is a brilliant way of qualifying for the tour, especially this year with two-year tour cards up for grabs. If you've got any aspiration of becoming a snooker player then you've got to go for it.”
The left hander added, “I qualified for the tour via the old Pontin's tour and it took a whole year. It's much better to do it all in three weeks, especially if you are coming from overseas. You know what you've got to do and it's just a question of getting
your game in perfect shape for those three weeks.”
He was appreciated across the snooker world for his impressive performance. The 20-year-old believes that other young potters can also grab the pro tour card if they work hard during the tournament. So far, the 2012 Q School has received massive entries
and the World Snooker Chairman, Barry Hearn believes that the 2012 Q School will bring fireworks in the pro circuit as the world will be witnessing emerging talent on its best.
The Cheltenham potter played impressively in the 2011-12 Players Tour Championship (PTC) Grand Finals and reached the second round against the former World Snooker Champion, Australia’s Neil Robertson but was not able to make an impact on the Aussie and
lost to him 1-4.
He will be participating in the qualifying session of the 2012 World Snooker Championship at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield. He has been placed in the sixth round of qualifiers where he might face compatriot Alfie Burden.
