England’s Jade Dernbach eyeing Test debut against Pakistan – News Update
England’s promising young fast bowler Jade Dernbach has expressed his desire to be a part of the Test team. He made his debut this year against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 in Twenty20 and One Day International (ODI) cricket, but does not want to be considered as a specialist
for limited-over cricket only.
After making his mark in limited-over cricket, the 25-year-old stated, “Now my goal is to play Test cricket. I hope to be on that plane to Dubai for the Pakistan series early next year. I have something to offer in those conditions with the reverse-swinging
ball. Fingers crossed, I’ll be there.”
Dernbach admitted that he was not very consistent at the start of his innings, but never doubted his abilities. He said, “In my early days my stats weren't great but I thought I had cracked it because I was playing for one of the biggest clubs in the country.
The minute you get lazy, you're not going anywhere. I had a higher regard for my abilities than what I was actually producing.”
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 will play their last ODI of the series against India at Cardiff on Friday, September 16, 2011 and Dernbach is once again likely to be a part of the team. The Poms have been absolutely brilliant throughout the entire series, not losing a single match
in any format until now.
The team will be looking forward to complete their dominance over the current World Champions by winning the final ODI of the series as well.
However, the team’s next scheduled Test series will be against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 4-0, but there might still be a chance
for Dernbach to make his debut in the longest version of the game.
The English side is currently suffering from some injury problems. The team’s Twenty20 skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SCJ-Broad-c2465 and pacer Chris Tremlett are recovering from their injuries and this might give Dernbach a chance to get a Test cap.
However, it will not be an easy task for the youngster to do well against the Men in Green on batting friendly pitches.
