England’s James Anderson disappointed with his performance so far - ICC World Cup 2011
The spearhead of the English bowling lineup, James Anderson, has said that he is very disappointed with his performances in the tournament so far. He has had a mixed tournament as he bowled well against the Proteas but failed to make any kind of an impression
in any other pool matches. The fast bowler has been severely criticised in the English media for not performing up to the mark in the mega event.
Anderson said that he is still in good rhythm and can play a vital role for his team in the remainder of the tournament. He feels that his major problem has been consistency; otherwise the ball is coming out nicely off the hands. He said that, “I'm not worried
about anything in particular - the ball is coming out of my hand well enough and I feel in control of what I'm doing, but I'm not nailing it consistently enough on the day and that is where it is time to step up.”
Anderson is the most senior bowler for England and has played a very important role in English victories in the last couple of years. However he is usually criticised by cricket pundits for not performing in batting friendly conditions. He is at his most
dangerous in cloudy conditions where he can swing the bowl viciously but he usually gets hammered on flat tracks like the sub-continent.
The fast bowler still believes in his abilities and said that he has not become a bad bowler overnight and can deliver the goods if he is played in the all-important fixture against the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760. “I'm a senior bowler with responsibility and I've got no
intention of shirking that. I still have confidence in my ability and I'm certain I haven't simply become a bad bowler overnight. If given the chance, I would back myself to do the business for the team on Thursday,” Anderson added.
England will take on the West Indies in their last group match at Chennai. It is a must win game for Anderson and company as a loss would mean that the English team would be flying back home early.
