England’s Jamie Barrett feels unlucky for not winning pro tour ticket – Snooker Update
Qualifying sessions of major ranking events of the new season have started at their respective venues featuring many new faces who earned their places in the professional tour. Recently the qualifiers of 2012 Australian Goldfields Open snooker event finished
after the 2012 Wuxi Classic qualifiers. Soon the televised stages of both tournaments will commence to launch the new season officially.
However, a lot of players were not able to make their way into the professional circuit including the Englishman Jamie Barrett who participated in all three events of 2012 World Snooker Qualifying School (Q School) and performed convincingly. Nevertheless,
despite playing decently in these three events, Barrett was unable to book a place in the pro tour.
Barrett did not enter the last year’s main tour and only played in the 2011-12 Players Tour Championship (PTC) series which affected his ranking too and he had to play in the 2012 World Snooker Q School. Barrett feels unlucky for not winning the pro tour
ticket because he reached the fourth round of second Q School event but lost to Ryan Causton by the score line of 4-3.
While speaking to the local media, Barrett said, “I played well during the Q School and was maybe a little unlucky not to get further than the fourth round, even though that was a good result for me. If I had the time to practice as much as the top professional
players, then I would be very confident of being up there and competing with them.”
He added, “I have already showed that last year in the PTC. I lost against Martin Gould and Matthew Stevens last year, but I probably should have beaten Matthew – and he did well in the World Championships.”
Barrett will now be looking forward to make an appearance in the upcoming PTC events. He will have better chances to improve his ranking playing in the PTCs because the World Snooker Chairman has added three more events in the PTC series. These events will
be called Asian Players Tour Championship and will be organised in China.
Barrett believes that he will be able to make an appearance in the upcoming PTC tournaments and try to book a place in the next snooker seasons.
