England’s Jimmy White hails Stephen Hendry for his charity efforts: 2012 Snooker Legends Cup
Two of the legendary snooker players, England’s Jimmy White and Scotland’s Stephen Hendry will be together at t same baize once again. The pair will play against each other in the singles match of 2012 Snooker Legends Cup to relive their Crucible memories.
Meanwhile, White hails the legendary potter for his support in the charity snooker events and expects more from him.
The duo has participated in many charity snooker events such as the Pink Ribbon and now the Snooker Legends. They have been together for a long time to put all of their efforts to help the needy.
Speaking to the local media about the tournament, White said, “It’s the third year of the Tour and it’s getting bigger all time so people should definitely come and watch us. It’s fantastic for the Tour. We’ve told him he needs to smile when he plays! Stephen’s
a great guy. Whenever I’ve done a charity event he’s done all he can to support it.”
The 49-year-old added, “I love my snooker now as much as I did when I was a kid. It’s gets harder because there are so many good players but I really enjoy it. I still practice three to four hours a day because I’ve got that motivation. I’ve not been world
champion so I’ve got unfinished business.”
The pair had some interesting encounters together especially in the World Snooker Championships. The Whirlwind played in six World Championship finals and four of them were against Hendry where he lost to the Scotsman. Despite having an unconvincing form
against Hendry in the past, the Englishman is still looking for more adventurous clashes against Hendry in future.
The People’s Champion will be at the Civic Hall arena in Bedworth between May 11 and 13, right after the conclusion of the 2012 World Snooker Championship. He is placed in the legend’s team that will be skippered by Dennis Taylor while Hendry will be a part
of the Cliff Thorburn legends team. World renowned referees, Michaela Tabb and Jan Verhaas will be the referees of the tournament.
The event will be played in four sessions of the day having singles and doubles matches. Former three-time World Snooker Champion, England’s Ronnie O’Sullivan and former Champ Ken Doherty will also be present in the tournament. The competition has already
got a lot of response from the world and will definitely be a hit.
